Beyonce Giselle Knowles-Carter is an American singer, songwriter, actress and record producer born September 4, 1981. She was born and brought up in Houston, Texas. Beyonce has performed in various singing and dancing competitions as a child. She rose to fame in the late 1990s as the lead singer of Destiny's Child which is one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. Beyonce made her theatrical film debut during Destiny's Child's hiatus, with a role in the US box-office number one Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002) and recorded her first solo album, Dangerously in Love in the year 2003, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. She released her second solo album, B'Day, following the disbandment of Destiny's Child in 2006, which contained the US number-one single "Irreplaceable" as well as the UK number-one singles "Deja Vu" and "Beautiful Liar". Beyonce continued her acting career with starring roles in The Pink Panther, released in 2006, Dreamgirls, also released in 2006, and Obsessed, released in 2009. Her portrayal of Etta James in Cadillac Records (2008) and her marriage to rapper Jay-Z influenced her third album, I Am... Sasha Fierce, which was launched in 2008 and earned a record-setting six Grammy Awards in 2010.
