A church also known as church building or a church house is a place used by the Christians to carry out their religious activities, particularly done for the Christian worship services. This term is often used by communities to refer to a building where Christians worship but it is sometimes used by analogy, to buildings of other religions. In the traditional architecture of Christians, the interior of the churches is often structured such as in the shape of a Christian cross. When one views it from plain sight, it can be noticed that the vertical beam of cross is represented by the centre aisle and seating while the horizontal beam and junction of the cross is formed by the altar and bema.
The purpose of adding a dome or building towers is with the intention of directing the eye of the viewer towards the heavens and to inspire a range of thoughts and emotions in worshippers and visitors. The architectural styles of the modern churches are varied in different aspects and layouts, for example, buildings which were designed for some other purposes are converted into churches also conversely churches are also converted into buildings used for religious or non religious purposes.
