Disney was founded originally by two brothers Roy O. and Walt Disney on October 16,1923, as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio. It also was known to operate under the names Walt Disney Productions and The Walt Disney Studio, before it actually changed its name to The Walt Disney Company in 1986. The company made itself well established and a leader under the production of American animations before making itself diverse in other fields of live-action film production, theme parks and television.
Disney finally in 1980s started to acquire and create corporate divisions in order to market more mature content than its typical association with its flagship family-oriented brands. The company is famous for its film studio division, The Walt Disney Studios, which includes Walt Disney Animation Studios, Walt Disney Pictures, Marvel Studios, Pixar, Lucasfilm, Fox 2000 pictures, 20th Century Fox, Blue Sky Studios and Fox Searchlight Pictures. Disney Parks, Disney Media Networks, Experiences and Products and Walt Disney Direct-to-Consumer and International are Disney's other main units and reporting segments. With the help of these networks it operates the ABC broadcast network, publishing, theatre divisions, merchandising, cable networks such as the Disney Channel, ESPN, Freeform, National Geographic and FX, and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, a group of 14 theme parks across the globe.
