Plane also known as airplane or aircraft or an aeroplane is a fixed winged, powered aircraft that is propelled forward by thrust for a propeller, jet engine or rocket engine. Airplanes could also be seen in various sizes, wing configurations and shapes. They are also not restricted for any single use but also used for various purposes being transportation of goods and people, recreation, research and military work. Four billion passengers are transported commercially from one place to another on an annual basis worldwide on airliners. Also more than two hundred billion tonne kilometres of cargo is transported through the system per year which is almost less than 1% of the world's cargo movement.
The planes or airplanes can be broadly categorised into two segments on the basis of the controller. One, being the ones which are flown by a pilot on board of the plane, the other could be the ones designed in such a manner so that they could be flown via a computer controlled system or remotes, such are known as drones. The first flown plane was invented by The Wright Brothers in 1903, and it was recognised as “ the first controlled and sustained heavier than air powered flight.”
