The face is the front of the head of an animal. Three of the sense organs i.e. the eyes, nose and mouth are located in the face region. Facial appearance is crucial for human recognition and communication. Facial muscles in humans and animals help them to express their emotions. Metaphorically it is also used in sociological context relating to the social standing and reputation of an individual. And this strong association with individuality confers the title of "faceless" on an anonymous person.
