Disney was founded originally by two brothers Roy O. and Walt Disney on October 16,1923, as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio. It also was known to operate under the names Walt Disney Productions and The Walt Disney Studio, before it actually changed its name to The Walt Disney Company in 1986. Disney Parks, Disney Media Networks, Experiences and Products and Walt Disney Direct-to-Consumer and International are Disney's other main units and reporting segments. With the help of these networks it operates the ABC broadcast network, publishing, theatre divisions, merchandising, cable networks such as the Disney Channel, ESPN, Freeform, National Geographic and FX, and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, a group of 14 theme parks across the globe.
