Selena Marie Gomez who was born July 22, 1992, is an American singer, actress, songwriter and television producer. She received wider recognition for her portrayal of Alex Russo on the Emmy Award-winning Disney Channel television series Wizards of Waverly Place, which aired from 2007 until 2012, this happened after her appearance on the children's television series Barney & Friends (2002–2004). She focused on more mature roles with her appearance in Spring Breakers , Getaway, The Fundamentals of Caring, and The Dead Don't Die. Earlier she starred in the films Another Cinderella Story (2008), Princess Protection Program (2009), Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie (2009), Ramona and Beezus (2010), and Monte Carlo (2011). She serves as an executive producer of the Netflix television drama series 13 Reasons Why (2017–present) and the Netflix documentary series Living Undocumented (2019) and voices the character of Mavis in the Hotel Transylvania film franchise. She attained the gold certified top-ten albums Kiss & Tell (2009), A Year Without Rain (2010) and When the Sun Goes Down (2011) on the US Billboard 200, with her former band Selena Gomez & the Scene. She released her album For You in 2014. It included the single "The Heart Wants What It Wants", which became her second top-ten entry, to finish out her contract with Hollywood Records.
