Today we cannot function without light-bulb. We have come a long way from Incandescent light bulb to LED lights. It is one of the prime and foremost inventions of man. There are various light bulbs types including incandescent, halogen, fluorescent, compact fluorescent, LED. The first electric light was invented by Humphry Davy in 1802 but was unsuccessful to use. In1880s, Thomas Edison researched and developed a practical incandescent light-bulb, after several experiments and tests. After that, Thomas Edison’s company then began marketing a new product of light bulbs which were ready for the commercial use.
In 1990s fluorescent bulbs came into existence. These bulbs were energy-efficient, which consumes less energy and mostly used for interior lighting, it also had lower production costs and its life was also longer than incandescent bulbs. In 1980s CFLs come to the market but could not capture the market because CFLs are bulky and expensive at that time and its performance were also poor. After some improvements in the CFLs, it is finally accepted by the people and became the first choice for homeowners and business owners as it soaked less energy than traditional light bulb types and has a longer life span than incandescent light bulb type.
