Bulldog, also famous from the names British Bulldog or English Bulldog is a breed of dog having a medium size. Bulldogs are muscular and hefty with wrinkled faces and a distinctive pushed in nose. The other characteristics of bulldogs include them having wide heads and shoulders with a pronounced mandibular prognathism. The breeding records are overseen by The Kennel Club (UK), The United Kennel Club (US) and the American Kennel Club (US). Bulldogs are popular as pets, also according to the American Kennel Club in 2017, they were the fifth most popular purebred in the US. As quoted by the BBC, “ Bulldog is a national icon to many, symbolising determination and pluck”corresponds to the theory that bulldogs have a longstanding association with the English culture.
Rumors also say that bulldogs were often linked to Prime Minister Winston Churchill and his defiance of Nazii Germany, back in the days of World War II. The bulldogs of the English men came with them when they came to settle in the Americas. The clubs for bulldogs were formed by the people who fancied them, some of them are The Bulldog Club (England) formed in 1878 and the Bulldog Club of America, formed in 1890.
