Puma SE, known as Puma is a German multinational sportswear manufacturer company. company. The headquarters are situated in Herzogenaurach, Bavaria, Germany. It is the 3rd largest sportswear manufacturer in the world after Nike and Adidas. The company's logo is considered amongst one of the world's most famous emblems and has been subject to many changes since the establishment of the company in 1948. Originally it featured the company's brand mascot- a puma- shown leaping through a capital "D". D here denotes "Dassler" , in the honor of brand founder Rudolf Dassler.
Rudolf Dassler modified his OG logo in 1957 by placing the word PUMA under the leaping cat. A year later the words Rudolf Dassler Schuhfa were also added. That same year, PUMA lined its second- ever trademark, the formstrip. Initially added as a functional feature, it's now a crucial part of PUMA's brand.
In 1986, PUMA'S logo was a simple leaping puma, with the borders and text removed. Two years later, this version was refined.Designed by cartoonist Lutz Backes, the "PUMA Icon" was a minimalist depiction of the leaping feline similar to today's branding. PUMA experimented with two different fonts in the mid'70s, setting on the heavy sans serif upper-case wordmark we know today.The modern PUMA logo was finally adopted in the year 1979 and is referred to as the "No.1" logo by the company.Since these last changes, PUMA's logo has remained untouched for decades- an impressive legacy by any standard.
