Open any dashboard and the small grey shapes doing the work are exactly these: folders and files, calendars and clocks, banking and finance marks, emoji and emoticons, and real estate symbols. It is the largest icon section and the most general, which makes it the sensible first place to look when a project needs a plain, unglamorous symbol rather than a themed one. Each file is a transparent PNG that stays crisp at ordinary interface sizes, from a small toolbar button up to a feature graphic. With no backing behind them, an icon drops onto a dark sidebar or a coloured card without a pale square appearing around it. Product designers use them in application interfaces, analysts in dashboards and reports, and presenters in slide decks. Documentation and help centres use them for wayfinding. Free to download.
