Beetles are a group of bugs that form the order coleoptera, within the superorder endopterygota. Their front pair of wings are hardened into wing-instances, elytra, distinguishing them from most other bugs. The coleoptera, with approximately 400,000 species, is the largest of all orders, constituting almost 40% of defined insects and 25% of all acknowledged animal life-forms; new species are located often. The most important of all households, the curculionidae (weevils), with a few eighty three,000 member species, belongs to this order. Found in almost every habitat except the ocean and the polar regions, they interact with their ecosystems in several methods: beetles regularly feed on flora and fungi, wreck down animal and plant debris, and devour different invertebrates.
A few species are serious agricultural pests, inclusive of the colorado potato beetle, while others such as coccinellidae (ladybirds or ladybugs) eat aphids, scale insects, thrips, and different plant-sucking insects that damage plants.
